What this might look like...
How we might work through this together...
Maybe you keep having the same argument with different words. Maybe you're the one who smooths things over, even when you're feeling hurt. Maybe you're the one everyone leans on and you're not too sure who you'd lean on. Maybe you love the people in your life and still find closeness hard, or find yourself often adjusting who you are in order to keep the peace. Maybe you're trying to make sense of it, whether it's a pattern that keeps showing up, or just not the right fit.
In romantic relationships
-
Repeating the same conflict, however it starts
-
Struggling to feel truly understood, even by someone who loves you
-
Difficulty trusting that things are actually ok, even when there's no clear reason not to
-
Adjusting who you are to keep the peace or avoid rejection
In family relationships
-
Old dynamics that still shape how you respond, even as an adult
-
Feeling guilty around setting boundaries or around wanting different things to the people who raised you
-
Feeling responsible for other people's feelings
In friendships
-
Struggling to know where you stand with people
-
Overthinking messages, tone or silence
-
Giving far more than you receive, without quite meaning to let that happen
At work
-
Difficulty saying no or over-explaining when you do
-
Reading too much into feedback or a colleague's mood
-
Masking who you are to fit in with a team or workplace culture
We won't just look at the relationship in isolation, we'll get curious together about the patterns you bring into it, often ones that started long before this particular relationship existed. That might mean looking at attachment, at what you learned early on about closeness and safety or at how you communicate under pressure.
For a lot of the people I work with, relationship difficulties are tangled up with masking, people-pleasing or a nervous system that's learned to expect conflict or rejection. If that's part of your experience, we'll work with that directly, not treat it as separate from the relationship itself.
If any of this feels familiar, I'd love to hear from you, no need to have it all figured out first before you get in touch.
