Maybe you've been through something recently like a new job, a move, a loss, a diagnosis, a relationship ending or beginning.. Or maybe it's smaller than that, like a routine that's changed, a season of life quietly ending or something shifting that's hard to even name. Either way, life has moved under you and you're still waiting to feel settled again.
Changes you chose
-
A new job, relationship or home that you expected to feel excited about but mostly feels disorienting
-
Becoming a parent or taking on a new role that's reshaped who you thought you were
-
A late diagnosis or new self-understanding that's changed how you see your whole life so far
Changes you didn't choose
-
Redundancy, illness, bereavement or a relationship ending
-
A change in health, ability or circumstances that's asked you to adapt faster than felt possible
-
Something ending before you were ready for it to
What tends to come up either way
-
Grief for a version of life or yourself you didn't expect to lose, even when the change was wanted
-
Feeling like you should be coping better than you are
-
Not knowing who you are on the other side of this yet
-
Pressure from yourself, or others, to have it figured out already
I won't rush you towards feeling 'settled' before you're ready to. Transitions, even exciting ones, can often involve a kind of grief and disorientation that doesn't often get talked about and we'll make room for that, alongside working out what you actually need as things shift.
For a lot of neurodivergent people, transitions tend to land differently as routine and predictability may have been doing more load-bearing work than you realised and change can hit harder or take longer to settle than it seems to for people around you. If that's part of your experience, we'll factor it in rather than treat it as a separate issue.
If any of this feels familiar, I'd love to hear from you, no need to have it all figured out first before you get in touch.
