Hi, I'm Roxanne 👋I really appreciate you being here and know how much it can take to get this far. From my own experience I know how overwhelming finding a therapist can be, not knowing what to expect, worrying how to reach out or just not knowing what you want or need.If your mind feels full and loud, looping through the what ifs and worries that just won't stop - whatever's brought you here, you don't have to carry it alone.I'm a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and registered member of the BACP, based in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent (ST6).
Anxiety can show up in so many different ways. For some it may be a constant worry that follows you around. You may experience thoughts looping that just won't let go, the overthinking, constant what ifs and replaying conversations. Sometimes it's more physical like feeling tense, on edge or waiting for something you can't quite put your finger on.However anxiety shows up for you, it isn't your enemy (although I appreciate it might feel that way!) It's a part of you that learned to be afraid and together we can work towards changing your relationship with it, so it stops running the show.
Whether you're formally diagnosed, self-identified or just starting to wonder if neurodivergence might be part of your experience, you're especially welcome here. Neurodivergence is an umbrella term which includes autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and many other ways of experiencing the world. If you've spent a lot of your life feeling like you don't quite fit, struggling in ways that others don't seem to or exhausting yourself trying to keep up with everyone else, that makes complete sense.I work from a neuroaffirming perspective, which means I'm not here to help you fit in better or mask more effectively, I'm here to support you in understanding yourself more fully and finding ways of living that actually fit you. Being neurodivergent myself, I bring both personal and professional understanding to this work.
That voice that constantly tells you you're not good enough, picking apart every single thing you do and finding it really hard to land on anything positive. Compliments might bounce off you without really being heard and a constant comparison of yourself to others, leaving you coming up short every time. Sometimes it's just so constant that it feels like the truth. If you're harder on yourself than you'd ever dream of being with someone you care about, that's something we can gently explore together and work towards building something a little kinder in its place.
Maybe you find yourself pushing people away just when things start to feel close. Worrying all the time that people will leave or you might be finding it hard to trust those closest to you. Saying yes to things when you mean no and putting everyone else first, losing sight of your own needs. These patterns often have roots and make complete sense when you begin to understand where they started.Together we can explore them with curiosity and without judgement, to begin to find ways of relating with others in your life that feel more authentic and a little less exhausting.
Sometimes life can change in ways we are not prepared for and even when changes we choose can still leave us feeling unexpectedly lost. Not knowing who you are anymore or who you're supposed to be on the other side of something. Putting pressure on yourself to just get over it and move on, when part of you is still very much in the middle of it.Grief can show up in so many different ways, whether that's because of the loss of someone we love, the end of a relationship, a friendship which has quietly faded, ending a job or role which you've spent years in. Sometimes it's the loss of something you never quite had but always hoped for and all of it counts, it's all welcome here.Whether you're navigating bereavement, a big life change, a new chapter that doesn't feel how you expected or a shift in your identity - there's no timeline for how long these things should take and this is a space to make sense of it, at your own pace.
In person sessions can take place in my therapy room based on the first floor of Burslem Enterprise Centre (ST6). A calming and cosy space.

I know that coming somewhere new for the first time can feel quite overwhelming, especially if you're already feeling anxious - so here's what to expect...The room has dimmable lighting, fidget tools, weighted blankets and hot and cold drinks. Shoes off, feet up, sitting cross legged or wrapped up in a fluffy blanket - however you feel most comfortable is absolutely fine. There's no expectation to sit a certain way or present yourself in any particular manner - I'm often sat cross legged myself!

There is free parking available on site. Please note the room is on the first floor of the centre, accessed by two flights of stairs - if this is something that might be a difficulty for you, please let me know when you get in touch and we can explore other options together.

🌱 Integrative & PersonalisedAt the heart of everything I do is collaboration. Sessions are shaped together, there's no set agenda, no fixed structure and no pressure to cover certain things by a certain point. We create the space together, in a way that feels genuinely useful and supportive for you. Some sessions might go deeper whilst others may feel lighter but whatever comes up, we'll follow your lead, at your pace, without pressure or judgement.I'm an integrative therapist which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches rather than following a single model. These include primarily person-centred, CBT and attachment-based work, adapting what we do to what feels most helpful for you at any given time.If it feels right, there's also the option to bring in some creative elements, like stones, russian dolls, whiteboards, illustration cards, which can sometimes offer a different way into things that words alone don't always reach. The free 30 minute introductory call is a chance to meet each other online, ask any questions you might have and share a little about what's bringing you to counselling - whatever feels comfortable to share in that short time. It's also a chance to get a feel for how it might be to work together, with no commitment or expectation on either side.
